Port Days on The Escape: Cozumel, Roatán, Harvest Caye, and Costa Maya
Sea days belong to the music. Port days belong to the map — and on The Escape, the map is generous. Sailing December 13–20, 2026 from New Orleans aboard Norwegian Breakaway, this house music cruise calls on four very different stops. Here is how each one earns its day.
Cozumel is the classic Caribbean port day done right: clear water, reef snorkeling, beach clubs, and a town built for wandering, eating, and picking up something to bring home. Go as hard or as easy as you like — this is the stop where a long lunch and a swim can be the whole plan, and a good one.
Roatán: the island slows down
Roatán, off the coast of Honduras, runs at island pace. The water is the draw — snorkeling and diving over the reef, or a beach day with your feet in the sand and nowhere to be until the ship calls you back. It is the day to exhale in the middle of the week.
Harvest Caye: the beach day, built in
Harvest Caye, in Belize, is made for a port day with no logistics: beach, pool, and island food, all right there. It is the stop where the group tends to land together — part beach party, part family outing — before everyone drifts back on board for the night's sets.
Costa Maya: ruins and the coast
Costa Maya gives the week its history. Inland sit the Chacchoben Mayan ruins, an easy excursion from the port and a striking change of pace from the beach days; on the coast, the beach clubs and the village of Mahahual keep it simple for anyone who would rather stay by the water.
How to plan your port days
Book the must-do excursion early. The popular tours fill first, especially in December.
Leave one port day unplanned. A free day by the water is sometimes the best day of the week.
Carry small bills and your ship card. And keep an eye on the all-aboard time — the ship's clock runs the day.
Save your energy for the nights. Whatever the port takes out of you, the DJ sets and the dance floor will put back.
