Dj Duane Powell

Growing up in the vibrant soul music scene of 1970s and early 80s Chicago, Duane Powell began his journey in street promotions in 1985, promoting events for top DJs like Lil Louis in the city's emerging house music scene. By 1990, he was a marketing manager and consultant for various clubs and DJs, including the historic Powerhouse. As a DJ, Duane has headlined and held residencies at Chicago's most popular venues and festivals, such as Taste Of Chicago, SummerDance, and Chicago House Festival. His talent has also taken him to festivals across the U.S., including Arizona House Festival, ATL Weekender, Sankofa Soul NYC, and Afro Disco Miami, sharing the stage with legends like Ron Trent, Francois K, Joe Claussell, and more. Recognized as Best House DJ by the *Chicago Reader*, Duane has recorded live sets for Boiler Room and Elevator music. In 2023, his popular event, Sunday Service, reached the Smithsonian, bringing house music to the National Mall. Duane also serves as a board member of The Frankie Knuckles Foundation.

Andre Blackwell 

Andre "Dre" Blackwell
President & CEO of Dre and Company, Dre is a celebrated figure in the world of Chicago Steppin'. Known for his dynamic dance skills and charismatic style, Dre has earned national recognition, winning top honors in competitive Steppin' and shaping the art form through teaching and choreography.

In 1998, he founded Dre and Company to promote Steppin' and meet public demand for instruction. Dre has worked on high-profile projects, including choreography and performances for R. Kelly’s "Step in the Name of Love" video, the 2003 Vibe and Billboard Awards, and the "Best of Both Worlds" tour with R. Kelly and Jay-Z. Notably, he choreographed a Steppin' routine for the national anthem during the Hopkins vs. Taylor fight on HBO in 2005.

Dre has taught Steppin' workshops nationwide and mentored many of Chicago’s top Steppin' talents. As one of only five Masters Category champions in the history of the World's Largest Steppin' Contest, he continues to inspire through his instruction, focusing on partner techniques, footwork, and freestyle.

Additionally, Dre co-produces the prestigious "World’s Largest Steppin’ Contest Pre-Party" and is a member of 10 Deep Productions. His passion lies in sharing the art of Chicago-style Steppin' and witnessing the growth of his students.

DJ Ray Vazquez was Born in Manhattan and raised in the heart of Coney Island, Ray Vazquez wasted no time in taking over New York's music scene. From Latin to R&B, Classics to House Music, he's done it all and played at the hottest venues in NYC. Dj Gene Hunt 

Gene Hunt is a true pioneer of Chicago house music, with a career spanning over three decades. Since the early 80s, he has been captivating audiences at iconic venues like The Warehouse, The Music Box, and Smart Bar. A collaborator with legends such as Ron Hardy, Frankie Knuckles, and Farley Jackmaster Funk, Gene has also made his mark globally, releasing music on labels like Traxx, Rush Hour, and Svek.  

Known for headlining major festivals like Coachella, Glastonbury, and Outside Lands, Gene has received accolades including multiple Chicago Music Awards and the 2006 Global Mix Award. His contributions to the genre are vast, from top-charting albums to groundbreaking performances like Boiler Room London and Chicago.  

Gene Hunt continues to innovate, designing custom headphones and honoring his roots as a protégé of Ron Hardy. His enduring impact makes him a living legend in house music.

DJ Warren has been spinning for over 40 years, starting in the 80s with a focus on Hip-Hop and R&B. About 15 years ago, he discovered a passion for House Music. After facing rejection from other DJs, he took matters into his own hands and started hosting his own parties at the I Can Club in New York, where he began to build a following. Nine years ago, he made his mark at the Rockaway Beach House Music Festival, and today, he continues to play throughout New York City and across various states. He holds two residencies in New York, and two years ago, he launched DJ Warren Production. He’s looking forward to sharing the decks with everyone once again on House Heads At Sea 2025 :The Breakaway.

Specializing in Chicago Style Steppin’ and Old School R&B, I bring the soul of the music wherever I play.

Born and raised on the South Side of Chicago, music has always been a part of my life. My family owned a record shop for over 30 years, and my grandfather was a local DJ. Traveling with him and stepping behind the decks at a young age sparked my passion for playing music and sharing it with others.

After moving to Atlanta 10 years ago, I became a premier Steppin’ DJ at local monthly events, a role I’ve proudly held for the past five years. My love for the music has taken me to various states, where I’ve had the privilege of playing Steppin’ music for dancers across the country. One of my most exciting moments was participating in Atlanta’s Steppin’ Music DJ Battle, a career highlight that pushed me to new levels as a DJ.

Music tells a story in every song, and I truly believe that Lyrics Matter. When I play, I want people to feel the music as much as they move to it.
